Miniature Japanese Bento Box

so this is just a re post of the bento box tutorial on my webs blog. Enjoy~

Re-post starts here:

Hi all! So today i'm going to show you all how i made my bento box.

So first, materials used:

Ice cream sticks/Popsicle stick (5-6pieces)

Glue

Acylic Paint (black and red)

Gloss (for wood)

This is the gloss i used. Bought it in a craft store in Singapore.

So first, you're gonna need to cut up your ice cream sticks. Cut both side of the rounded end of your ice cream stick. You can use a pair of sharp scissors to do this. You will be left with around 10.4cm. Divide the stick to 5.2cm each as shown in picture below.

You will need 9 pieces of ice cream sticks each measuring 5.2cm

Now, use your glue and stick 5 pieces of ice cream sticks horizontally together. This will be the base of your bento box.
Let it dry for about 5 minutes. I recommend you to put something heavy on top while it is drying. (to keep it as flat as possible)

After 5 minutes, take the remaining 4 pieces of ice cream sticks and stick them to the side of the base.

No thats not the end! You will have to take another ice cream stick and divide it as follow.

Use your scissors and cut along the lines! Be careful when you cut the stick horizontally. It breaks very easily.

Now you will have this:

Take this 2 pieces and glue it inside the box.

You will get something like this:

Let it dry for about 10 minutes. After it has dried, get ready your red acrylic paint. Paint only the INSIDE of the box.

It will look like this:

Sorry for the blur picture. I hope you can still see. ^^
Wait for the red paint to dry, then get your black acrylic paint and paint the remaining unpainted parts of the box.

You will get this:

There! You have your bento box!  待つ matte (wait)! Your bento box is still not done yet.
Take your gloss and glaze the whole box. (Including the sides and bottom) Let it dry for about 1 day before using it.
